Hi, I need an affordable discrete battery for a wearable electronic garment. The garment is being developed for a sports company but my testing in the lab and calculations suggest I need a minimum of 6V and 2000mAh capacity. Being a sports garment it will be worn outside so a workable temperature range of -10C to 50C would be great. Any ideas who develops battery solutions for wearable textiles or does anyone know if there is an off-the shelf solution out there?

Thanks Bryan

hi bryan,

i don't have an answer to your question, but sparkfun make a polymer lithium battery that is designed to work with the lilypad.

battery:

lilypad connector:

there is also a product on the market called a backpack for arduino - maybe check that one out, too:

you might also try investigating the battery options used in cellphones and nano ipods.  particularly the nanos are considered wearable and used by sports people, so maybe their batteries are developed to withstand outdoor conditions?

good luck!

Hi Megg,

The information you wrote was great!!! I was unaware of both electronic stores, which has helped me in other projects as well.

The closest I have come to the exact specification is digital camera batteries, which is thinking along the same lines as you wrote.

Thanks again for all your help

Bryan

Bryan: I've got a wearable battery design I've created that is wearable, innovative, we can make different voltages or sizes for you. If your looking to make something truly wearable and lightweight, I am looking for electronic and manf. partners to help bring it to market.
