Need to cheer up a bit the last leg of this school year? How about the Targus SonicPak from Dell?

Dell is offering this cool looking BoomPak featuring a padded compartment for protection of not only Dell laptops but will also fit for MacBooks of up to 15.4″.

The sound part is integrated into the front panel which is transformed to a sound emitting area giving decent sound via the surface sound technology from NXT. As this technology uses the soft, called ‘EVA’ material of the bag itself it is a space saving and extremely lightweight sound solution for on-the-go.

Any audio source can be connected via a standard 3.5mm pin connector, so many cell-phones, MP3 player and of course laptop computers.

The battery compartment with an on/off switch, a power-indicator LED as well as a 1.4W*2 amplifier (yeah it’s stereo sound) is integrated into the surface sound panel. The batteries should be able to provide power for up to 100 hours, sounds a bit much for 4x AA batteries or the volume is turned down to ‘unhearable’ levels which misses the point of having a BoomPak. Having half of that time for real volume would be still a good thing.

Dell is selling the SonicPak for S85.99, a reasonable price for what you get next to the great looking sound: side mesh water bottle holders, adjustable, padded shoulder straps, molded carrying handle, oversize zipper pulls for easy gripping and plenty of pockets for accessories.

Some brands integrate the audio (speaker) very discreetly for folks who don’t want to stick out from the crowd.

Not so Loop NYC with their hip and loud designed Audio Couture Ghetto Blaster Bag collection.

The graffiti-print bags make no secret that there is sound coming out of them. An integrated amplifier, two conventional speaker and audio connection that can hook up to almost any device with a 3.5mm audio jack transforms the bag into a 80′s Boombox.

I like the idea of putting together the technology worlds of bags and electronics using very basic technologies but creating a fun yet still practical product.

Amazon carries many different designs and styles of Loop NYC’s Audio Couture bag collection with prices ranging from $30.- to $50.-

A sure way to spice up your life and have some fun during your city walks.

Reebok’s backpack and messenger pack with surface sound technology have been a bargain at introduction as one of the cheapest sound bags from an A-brand.

A few month later the price went down almost 50% and if you have every speculated of experiencing a sound system seamless integrated in one of your bags – now it’s time to close the deal.

Available at UK online retailer Born-for-Sports, the Surface Sound Backpack goes for £34.99 ($57.30) and the Surface Sound Messenger bag goes for £32.00 ($52.40).

Both bags come with an integrated stereo sound system using the thermofoam style segment of the bags as speaker panel activated by NXT’s surface sound system. This allows the invisible integration of speakers while still offering good sound. Every time I switch on my surface sound backpack it like magic as the sound is radiating from the bags material.

The sound comes from an integrated amplifier which is powered by 3x AA batteries. Any device that has an 3.5mm audio jack can be connected to these bags.

Both bags have plenty of pockets on the in- and outside to keep your stuff organized. Available in black, Reebok’s surface sound bags are good looking and give great value for money if you are on the lookout for a sound function on your bags.

Even if you don’t use the ‘surround sound’ in public places, it’s still a great feature to share youor tunes or have some background music while hanging out with friends somewhere away from big sound systems.

GRO’s Boom bag design study is part of an investigation on how to use loudspeakers in a more creative way.

We have seen various types of Boom Bags before, commercially available or concepts designs but the Boombag from GRO Design is definitely the winner in terms of sleek, cool looks.

Designed as an accessory for iPods and other music players, the boom bag is made from durable and weatherproof speaker fabric. It houses a full range speaker, the electronic to dive the speakers and a rechargeable battery.

It would be the most beautiful way to carry your iPod or other portable audio player.

According GRO’s website, they are currently looking for a production partner to realize this product. If this happens, we have an exquisite choice of an Boom Box Bag in an truly 21st Century design.

GRO design was founded in 1999 by three British designer – Roland Bird, Graham Hinde and Roger Swales.

We had an article on talk2myShirt last October speculating about the revival of the BoomBox trend of the 80s in form of bags and backpacks with speaker and amplifier integrated to hook up to our 21st century small audio players like the iPod.

Sure enough another option is coming to the market via iWorld with a bag design that takes the retro spirit for a Wearable boombox to a higher level.

With the fashionable retro design of the Boom Bag in the style of an Tape Deck or an DJ Mixer, sharing music has never been more fun.

This Boom Bags will let you share your music wherever you are, in the park or on the cool beach party or on the sports ground to cheer you on, the reasons for having a boom bag box are endless.

Revive the spirit of the 80′s Boom Box era with this 21st century wearable boom bag that cleverly hides an FM radio and set of speakers ready to connect any portable audio device like iPod or other MP3 player, mobile phone, CD player anything that comes with an 3.5mm headphone plug and gives out an audio signal.

In the 80s many carried around big boom boxes. At the begin of the 21st century we can carry around boom bags that give off sound just like the boomboxes in the last century only we have now the option of a soft touch and multifunctional boomboxes that double as bag.

Boombox evolution enabled by wearable technologies

The price for this retro hip bag is very reasonable at £18.99 which makes in $37.82 in US currency. Available via iWorld’s online shop.
