Interactive T-Shirts
T-Shirts with EL (Electroluminescent) displays have come a long way. What started out as novel idea with only very few variations to choose from has evolved into a colorful and variation rich segment.
There are millions of different designs available to be used to send specific message of the wearer out to the world. The drawback with all those T-Shirts is, you have to choose your message and wear it until you replace the T-Shirt. There is little option to add or change the graphic unless you got to buy another T-Shirt.
T-Shirt designer add eye catching glitter or even holographic prints to spice them up. But still, all these designs are static; once a design is chosen you are stuck with it.
An alternative to the static clothing is - interactive clothing which can be changed on the fly or interacts with the environment like visualizing sound.
We found an online store that sells a lot of different interactive EL T-Shirts like the cool looking TQ-headphone Shirt, a interesting variant of the T-Qualizer shirt range. Available in girls and boys cuts it goes for a cool $14.99
Another highly interactive and customizable T-Shirt is the T-sketch. Anything can be drawn on the display panel which then activates a glowing light beneath your artwork. The flashing sequence can be changed to suit your preference – from a gentle glow right through to a pulsing strobe.
The T-Sketch goes for $49.99 - great value for money considering you can change your message to the world any time.
All interactive EL T-Shirts run on 2x or 4x AAA batteries which are housed in a small box together with the on/off switch and in some cases the microphone to pick up sound.
After removing the battery housing, the shirts are hand washable but there is an option to ‘upgrade’ your EL T-Shirt during checkout with a Velcro option for just $1.- allowing to take off the display as well to put the T-Shirt into a washing machine.
