Design contest for Cooling Jackets

Cooling-VestThe last thing most of our talk2myShirt reader will have in mind right now with the winter in front of the door is thinking on a cooling jacket. But there are regions on our planet where people straggly with the heat around year.

India is such a place where the intense heat causes heat stock related death of people who need to work outside like construction and agricultural workers.

Authorities in the southern state of Kerala challenge individuals and research groups to come up with a cooling system suitable to be integrated into a jacket.

A committee will select 10 options, and each inventor will get about $2,200 to develop their concepts. The winner gets $22,000.

Cooling vests and jackets are on the market for some time like the Arctic Heat Cooling Vests used by The USA Olympic team in Athens and Beijing, by contraction workers and the military.

The cool of the vest comes from special crystals absorbing and retaining the temperature based on a chemical process.

Other wearable cooling systems use liquid, similar to the one in a refrigerator, pumped through a soft piping system in a jacket.

Maybe the weather at your place does not inspire to think about a wearable cooling system but the reward of coming up with a robust and effective solution is not only monetary, it will make you a cool person.

  1. Great article. I never thought about the benefits of disagreeing! You’re right even if, that people rarely disagree within a respectful way. If you aren’t respectful, chances are that your comment is definately not approved or deleted.

  2. The following time I read a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as a lot as this one. I mean, I know it was my option to read, but I actually thought youd have one thing interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix should you werent too busy on the lookout for attention.
