DIY – RF detector wristband
Brian send us his latest wearable DIY project, the ‘RF detector wristband‘.
A simple but interesting project demonstrating how the use of wearable technologies can create helpful ‘hands on’ tools.
The function of the ‘RF detector wristband’ is to visualize the presents of an RF signal indicating a transmitter like a cell-phone or UHF is working or not during a repair job.
The wristband contains a simple 2 diode detector circuit to detect the RF, a transistor to amplify the signal and drive the LED, a battery and an antenna.
The benefit of having the RF tester in a wristband: both hands are free while fixing the transmitter.
I am sure this little concept will trigger many ideas how to make use of intelligent work clothing to make life easier when wrestling down problems while fixing stuff.
